Whether an Amazon invoice appears in Your Orders depends on who sold the order and who raised the invoice. If Amazon sold it, the invoice appears after dispatch. If a seller sold it and you can’t see an invoice, request it from the seller. Gift orders, gift cards and a few other purchases follow different rules.
In this guide, you’ll see where to check first, what Amazon says about each type of order, and how to ask a seller for a missing invoice. The steps follow Amazon.co.uk’s help pages. Other Amazon stores have their own help pages, so labels and rules may differ.
Note: This article provides general information about Amazon VAT invoices and is not tax advice. VAT treatment depends on your country and individual circumstances, so you should confirm the correct treatment with your accountant or tax advisor.
Check Your Orders First
According to Amazon’s instructions for printing an invoice, the invoice is reached from the order itself:
- Go to Your Orders.
- Find the order. If it isn’t listed, select another option from the Orders placed in menu.
- Select Invoice.
- Choose Print Invoice if it is offered.
You may also see Order Summary. Amazon treats this as a separate document: a summary can be printed for any order sold on Amazon.co.uk, while for orders dispatched on or after 1 July 2013 you “may also be able” to print or save a VAT invoice. If you need the document for VAT purposes, ask your accountant which one is required.
Why the Invoice Isn’t There
Amazon’s VAT invoices page separates orders by who sold them and how they were fulfilled.
The order hasn’t been dispatched. For orders sold and dispatched by Amazon, the itemised VAT invoice becomes visible in your account as soon as the order is dispatched. Before that, there is nothing to download. Amazon adds that once such an order enters the dispatch process, the content of the invoice can no longer be modified.
A Marketplace seller sold the item. Amazon describes two cases where an invoice can appear in Your Orders: when it is required to raise the invoice on the seller’s behalf, or when the seller is enrolled in the Amazon Tax Calculation Service. If you don’t see one, Amazon says to contact the seller directly.
The same applies to items marked “Fulfilled by Amazon”. For those, the purchase confirmation email serves as a record of the purchase, but Amazon still sends you to the seller for the VAT invoice.
Orders That Follow a Different Route
Some purchases don’t use the steps above:
- Gift orders: contact Amazon.
- Gift cards: Amazon says it can’t provide itemised VAT invoices for them.
- Digital products and services: a printable invoice is available on the digital order summary page.
- Prime membership: go to My Amazon Prime, then Update your payment method, then View all printable receipts, and select View Receipt. Amazon says this works from a computer but not from the mobile app.
- Orders dispatched before 1 July 2013: contact Amazon. This doesn’t apply to Marketplace orders.
How to Request a Missing Invoice From the Seller
If the order came from a seller and no invoice is available, you can ask for it from the same screen:
- Go to Your Orders and find the order.
- Select Invoice.
- Choose Request Invoice.
On Amazon.co.uk there is a second route: visit amazon.co.uk/askseller, select your order and choose Get an invoice for this. If no invoice can be downloaded, you can message the seller. Amazon says the seller will provide one within 2 business days.
The help page for Amazon Business accounts describes the same choice. If the seller uses Amazon’s VAT calculation service, select Print invoice. If not, select Request invoice, and the seller should reply within two working days.
These pages don’t say what to do if a seller doesn’t reply, or if a dispatched order sold by Amazon shows no invoice. In those cases, contact Amazon customer service.
How to Download the Invoices That Are Available
The steps above work order by order, which gets slow when you need several months or a full year for your bookkeeping.
InvoiceStack Amazon Invoice Downloader is a Chrome extension that downloads the official Amazon invoice PDFs for a period in one run. It can’t create an invoice that hasn’t been issued, so the cases above still need handling by hand.
- Install the extension from the Chrome Web Store.
- Activate it with your license key.
- Sign in to your Amazon account.
- Select your Amazon domain and period.
- Click Download Amazon Invoices.
The panel shows the progress and a log of each order. An order with no invoice counts as failed, is noted in the log and uses no credit. An interrupted run resumes where it left off, but running a finished period again downloads its invoices again and uses new credits. The extension works on 10 European Amazon stores, with both Personal and Amazon Business accounts.

Conclusion: What to Do When the Invoice Is Missing
If Amazon sold the order, wait for dispatch and check Your Orders. If a seller sold it, even with Fulfilled by Amazon, select Request Invoice and allow two working days for the reply. Gift orders go through Amazon directly.
Once your invoices are available, you can try InvoiceStack with your first 5 invoices for free, with no credit card required.
